We all know the fear of a task to fail. The fear of possible consequences drives us to act according to established patterns and to eliminate risk factors as far as possible. But that failure could also be considered as a positive experience is mostly forgotten.
The term serendipity describes observations that were not sought originally. History knows a variety of such random inventions. These range from rather trivial everyday objects to the discovery of entire continents. This series of posters illustrate feature a small amount of the many supposedly failed discoveries.
